Every year in Janvier, Alberta they hold a snowmobile drag racing weekend. This year the good people of Octane Addictions also came up with 4 riders from the X-Games and put on a few shows.
We decided to check it out and flew up in the R44. Planning out the route it was a little over 200 nm but with no fuel at our destination we would have to make a stop enroute. Looking at our maps Athabsca was almost right on the half way point with plenty of fuel and an all important bathroom.
For the last leg we would be entering the Air Traffic Advisory for the South Oil Sands Area. This requires all aircraft to broadcast their intentions on 123.025 and have a Mode C transponder.
After a good flight we landed on Bohn Lake and got a spot to watch the action.
