The Engine cylinders have fins on where the heat is taken away by the airflow, the oil cooler is a small radiator that has cooling air flowing through it to remove heat, main rotor gearboxes, hydraulics, magnetos, battery and alternator have hoses running to them for airflow. The Robinson R44 also has the battery, hydraulics and magnetos cooled by the cooling air system.

When draining the R44 Raven II fuel during a pre-flight inspection the recommended procedure is:
